Color-accurate proofs on packaging substrates

Many abc packmedia customers not only want proofs to communicate the color result on paper, but also on different packaging substrates. In particular, the production process of film proofs using lamination and a laser-based proofing device is a complicated affair. Since it is not possible to adopt existing GMG color profiles in this process, they must first be converted to another color management technology.

A solution was sought that would integrate into the existing GMG system, convert existing color profiles quickly and accurately, and be easy to control.

The Solution

GMG Color Management for Epson SureColor S80600

The inkjet-based printer Epson SC-S80600 enables abc packmedia to quickly and easily create color-accurate film proofs and packaging prototypes. The system is controlled via GMG ColorProof. Existing projects in GMG OpenColor and existing GMG color profiles can be converted quickly and easily for the different substrates. The printer can be recalibrated within tight tolerances to ensure consistent performance and color representation.
